The IPL Trophy: can your IPL XI win it?
Spin for a franchise and a block of seasons, draft eleven IPL players, then play for the trophy: four league games, a playoff, and the All-Star XI waiting in the final.

How it works
- Draft. The same draft as the IPL game: six spins, each drawing a franchise and a block of seasons, give you eleven picks for fixed spots (two openers, three middle-order batters, a wicketkeeper, two all-rounders or spinners, and three fast bowlers), with at most four overseas players.
- The league. Your XI plays four franchises. Three wins take you through, so one slip is allowed. A second defeat and you are out.
- The playoff. One of the two strongest franchises in the game, Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians. Lose and the run is over.
- The final. The All-Star XI, the same side you face in the IPL series. Win it and you win the trophy; win every match and you are unbeaten champions, 6–0.
What decides a match
Every XI, yours and each franchise’s, gets a team score from the same ratings as the IPL game: batting, bowling and fielding, built from real career numbers. The gap between the two scores decides the match, with a small element of luck, so a weaker side can sometimes win. The luck is fixed for your XI: the same eleven always meet the same franchises and get the same results.
Which franchises you meet in the league is drawn for your XI. Draft a different eleven and the draw changes. The ratings are never shown, for you or for any franchise, so the picks are your own judgement.
The ten franchises
Each franchise’s XI is its hand-picked all-time XI, the same eleven as on our franchise XIs page, rated on what each player did for that franchise, all his seasons added together. The sides are fixed and are the same for everyone. To judge your own picks, see what a good T20 batting average and a good strike rate look like.

- Only the ten franchises playing today are in the trophy. Lucknow Super Giants joined in 2022, so their XI rests on the shortest history and is the weakest of the ten.
- Every XI keeps to the IPL’s four-overseas rule. Match records come from Cricsheet and leave out matches it withholds, so a player’s totals can be a little short of the official ones.
The All-Star XI, in the final
The side every run has to beat at the end. It does not change from game to game.
